Attention friends and family who live out of state: I’m not marginally more inclined to travel to see you via airplane now that the TSA has decided that groping my child will to nothing to increase our nation’s security! YAY!

I still think those full body scanners are too high a health risk to even stand near, given that no independent body will confirm that their current configuration is a safe amount of radiation for your skin to absorb, and nobody is tasked with ensuring that they don’t “accidentally” turn up the intensity (which would the viewing agents a clearer picture). But, apparently restoring fundamental rights to health and civil liberty is best taken in baby steps. =]

Invites went out to a select few for a special event put on by Nike that will “change the course time”, which included a pair of those iconic stainless steel sunglasses that Doc Brown wore in BTTF2 as well as a copy of the movie. Also, check out the viral video that Nike has put out:

As jazzed as I am about finally seeing these shoes in the flesh (I won’t want to pay whatever they’re asking, but still, the 12 year old in me is thinking “FINALLY, I can buy a pair!”), you have to wonder what went through the minds of the overseas labor that put these things together… “American ADULTS need glowing lights in their shoes now, and are too lazy to tie their own shoes?”

Seriously… a small team is working on making a game they’re calling MariO. It’s essentially SMB with a Portal gun. They have plans for a level editor, downloadable custom levels, and multiplayer. MULTIPLAYER!!!

We can only hope that someone, somewhere is working on a Portal / Tetris mashup.

As a former A&Fer (I was in the IT department at the Home Office) I get a kick out of seeing how my former employer deals with… well… everything. But most of all, I love the ways they find to keep their name in the news. This (month’s? year’s?) regular “no publicity is bad publicity” pop-news item from Abercrombie & Fitch is one of the best yet. They’re offering to pay a cast member to stop wearing their clothes. Good times.
